In 1936 the Titone family bought a strip of land between Trapani and Marsala, with Erice rising behind it, and planted vines for Marsala wine. It stayed that way for two generations, until Nicolò Titone, a pharmacist by trade, pulled the vines out sometime in the 1980s and planted olive trees instead. He pushed the estate toward organic growing years before that was common in Sicily, and by 1992 every stage of the work was certified organic, one of the first operations in the region to get there. The land sits in contrada Locogrande, in what's now the comune of Misiliscemi, carved out of Trapani's old territory. His daughter Antonella trained as a pharmacist too and ran the family pharmacy in Marsala for about ten years before taking over the olive grove in the late 1990s to carry her father's work forward. The estate now covers about 19 hectares and roughly 5,000 trees, mostly Nocellara del Belice, Cerasuola, and Biancolilla, with some Coratina and Frantoio mixed in for pollination. The flagship bottle carries the Valli Trapanesi DOP, organic. It picked up Gold at the NYIOOC in both 2024 and 2025, and in 2025 Antonella won Slow Food's Soracco prize, given for staying with the work through a rough stretch — the estate had lost about seventy percent of its crop the year before to drought and a mild winter.
