Olive Auction built this page from public records so buyers can find the estate. Its own people can claim it at no cost — complete the story, list lots, answer buyers.
After a claim, we confirm by emailEverything here comes from public sources — award lists, certification registers, the territory inventories. The rest of the story — the family, the grove, the real age of the trees, this year's lab sheet — only the mill can tell, and it is the part buyers bid on.
The Cutrera family began cultivating olive groves in 1906 on the Monti Iblei above Chiaramonte Gulfi, in southeastern Sicily. Giovanni Cutrera grew up working in one of the area's old stone mills, and in 1979 he and his wife Maria built the family's own, turning generations of growing into their own production. Their three children, Maria, Giusy, and Salvatore, joined the work as it grew, and in 1999 the family opened a second mill to keep up with the groves. Today the Cutreras farm around 150 hectares scattered across the Iblei hills, mostly Tonda Iblea alongside Nocellara Etnea, Nocellara del Belice, Moresca, Cerasuola, and Biancolilla, and the olives go to the press within hours of picking. Their Primo, pressed only from Tonda Iblea, was the first Sicilian oil to carry the DOP Monti Iblei designation, and it has been winning since 2001, named World's Best Olive Oil in 2010. Across the whole line, the family counts more than 700 awards over the last twenty years, and the oil now ships to 46 countries. A third generation of Cutreras is already working the groves and the mill alongside their parents.
