Oro di Giano is the label of the Agricad estate at Villa Macciano, above the Colli Martani a few kilometres from Giano dell'Umbria, in hill country the producer's territory page places at the centre of a triangle drawn between Todi, Spoleto and Assisi. The company's history page records the family present at Villa Macciano since at least the beginning of the sixteenth century, and names Cardinal Basilio Pompilj as resident there from the first half of the nineteenth.
The holding runs to more than 160 hectares, of which the olives occupy fifteen, planted in Moraiolo, Frantoio, Leccino and San Felice, with four new traditional groves under automated irrigation. The producer states that the entire production process is certified under the DOP Umbria – Colli Martani; harvest is staggered by parcel, San Felice picked in early October and Basilio in mid-October, extraction is by a modern continuous-cycle line, and the Macciano bottling is produced in limited quantity with every bottle numbered by hand. The site lists a NYIOOC Gold Medal, Gambero Rosso ratings and inclusion in Flos Olei 2026.
A monumental olive of the Raja variety stands near Bivio Macciano and serves the producer as the symbol of the whole project, described on its pages as millenario. The record compiled for the Patriarchi Verdi itinerary by Felice Santini — entry 36 of the regional register, placing the tree by the rural settlement of Casariccio and noting that the common name 'olivo di Macciano' is a misnomer — gives a trunk circumference of 7.4 metres and a height of 5.2 metres, and reports two figures from a 2009 study by G. Pannelli and others: a radiocarbon result of 886±57 years on the sampled wood, and a calculated age for the plant of 235±15 years. The record carries both figures side by side.
