Uzunyuva is the bottling label of Özen Mühendislik Zeytinyağı Fabrikası, at Milas in Muğla province, southwestern Türkiye. An account reproduced on the company's own press page from Bilge Ağaç Dergisi of May 2018 traces the family's olive oil work three generations back to Turgut — formerly Leyne — in the district of Yatağan, where the grandfather, whom that account names as Ali Rıza Bey, had a press system installed by Italian craftsmen in the garden of the large stone house at the centre of the town, at first to press the family's own fruit; the same account records that the work paused when he sold the plant's machinery. Years later his son Mehmet Özen built a plant made up of two stone mills, two presses and a manual separator, and about ten years after that his eldest son Durmuş Özen carried the work forward through press and then continuous systems across three separate plants.
The same account gives Uğur Özen, the younger son, as finishing civil engineering at Istanbul Technical University in 1994 and returning to Turgut, and quotes his mother's words that kept him there rather than at a job abroad: "Oğlum uzağa gitme, bu sene zeytin çok, fabrikamızı işlet." A Hürriyet column by Adnan Kaya reports that he settled his own plant at Milas in 2000, choosing the district for the volume of fruit it grew against the scarcity of mills at the time, that he works alongside his wife Rabia Özen, that the plant processes up to 80 tonnes of olives a day on HAUS equipment, and that the company's three marks are Uzunyuva Milas for the cold-pressed extra virgin oils, Çekişte for flavoured oils, and Oliozen for export; the column also reports the Uzunyuva name as taken from the Milas locality of that name. A separate Hürriyet report puts the family's groves at Turgut, planted mostly to Memecik. The producer's own site divides the range into İçmelik and Yemeklik oils and invites visitors during the October pressing.
Milas Zeytinyağı was entered in the European Union register of protected designations of origin by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/2194 of 16 December 2020, in class 1.5, oils and fats, published at OJ L 434 of 23 December 2020 following an application published at OJ C 270 of 17 August 2020; the EU Delegation to Türkiye records it as the first Turkish olive oil to be registered by the EU and gives Memecik as its variety. Every page of the producer's site closes with the line that Uzunyuva natural extra virgin oils carry the Milas Memecik geographical indication, and its press page reproduces reports that Milas Ticaret ve Sanayi Odası obtained the national registration and that the Uzunyuva mark of Rabia and Uğur Özen was among the Milas brands to take the chamber's label, handed to MİTSO board chairman Reşit Özer. On its own about page the company records that its Uzunyuva Milas Memecik oil took the "En Yüksek Polifenol" and "Altın Madalya" awards at the Muğla provincial agriculture directorate's 4th Olive Oil Quality Competition in 2023, and third place worldwide in the olive oil category of the Private Label Manufacturers Association's 2023 competition. A further post records pressing at the plant during the 4th Milas Olive Harvest Festival in November 2017, in the presence of the then governor of Muğla, Esengül Civelek.
