Sindyanna of Galilee is a non-profit staffed by Arab and Jewish women that markets olive oil and other food from Arab growers on fair-trade terms and channels its profits into education for Arab women. The work began in 1993 as packing and selling oil out of a small room in Majd al-Krum, in the Upper Galilee; the organisation was established in 1996 and named for the sindyanna, the Palestine oak that is the commonest tree in the Galilee. In 2005 it moved to a larger warehouse in Kufr Kana, near Nazareth, where its visitors' centre also stands. Hadas Lahav has been chief executive since the founding, and around 200 Arab olive growers in the Galilee supply it.
The certifications carry the record. Sindyanna has been a member of the World Fair Trade Organization since 2003, and holds Fair for Life social and fair-trade certification, awarded the top five-leaf performance rating by the Institute for Marketecology; it and two of its long-standing organic suppliers have also passed Regenerative Organic Certified inspection. In March 2010 it planted thousands of olive trees on 100 dunams of a disused military firing range in Wadi Ara, near Tel Megiddo, with Al-Juzur, an association of Arab farmers from Ara and Araara.
Its single-variety oils are judged widely: a Gold for the Coratina at NYIOOC in 2022, a Silver for the Bar'nea there in 2021, Prestige Gold for both Coratina and Picual at TerraOlivo in 2026, and Gold for the organic oil at Italy's Premio BIOL in 2025 and 2026.
