Olive Auction built this page from public records so buyers can find the estate. Its own people can claim it at no cost — complete the story, list lots, answer buyers.
After a claim, we confirm by emailEverything here comes from public sources — award lists, certification registers, the territory inventories. The rest of the story — the family, the grove, the real age of the trees, this year's lab sheet — only the mill can tell, and it is the part buyers bid on.
The Panagiotopoulos family settled near Ancient Olympia back in the 1890s, growing wine and currants and counting physicians, governors, artists, and writers among their own family line. Sometime in the 1960s they pulled up the vines and planted olive groves in their place, and those same groves, worked through three generations since, are still where the family picks today. In 2013, James Panagiotopoulos took what the family had been growing for itself and built PJ Kabos around it, aiming to get the oil in front of people outside Greece who cared about eating well. The olives are Koroneiki, picked early and pressed by centrifuge within hours, no heat and no chemicals added, which is part of why the phenol counts run high — by the producer's published analyses the Family Reserve line sits anywhere from 400 to 700 mg/kg depending on the bottling, and the Phenolic Shot has tested past 900 mg/kg. New York noticed early: gold at NYIOOC four years running, 2015 through 2018, and gold again in 2025 for the Family Reserve Organic Phenolic Shot, with medals from BIOL in Italy along the way too. The oil that used to stay on the family table now ships to the US, Finland, and Trinidad and Tobago, still coming off the same hillside outside Olympia.
