Olive Auction built this page from public records so buyers can find the estate. Its own people can claim it at no cost — complete the story, list lots, answer buyers.
After a claim, we confirm by emailEverything here comes from public sources — award lists, certification registers, the territory inventories. The rest of the story — the family, the grove, the real age of the trees, this year's lab sheet — only the mill can tell, and it is the part buyers bid on.
Pendleton Olive Estate grows on South Australia's Limestone Coast, with its groves and mill at Keith. The ground is what the estate builds on: a landscape left as the Great Southern Ocean receded, giving ancient free-draining soils, caves and the underground reservoirs of the Limestone Coast aquifer, under a Mediterranean pattern of wet winters and dry, warm summers. Olive trees have been growing in the district since the late 1800s. The estate dates its name to 1869, when Governor James Fergusson proclaimed the region and called it Pendleton, an old English word for a settlement, and it credits Frank Agostino and Richard Whiting with establishing the olive mill at Keith.
More than 240,000 trees and ten olive varieties stand across 700 hectares. The estate harvests with its own mechanical harvester and carries the fruit a short distance to a mill running two processing lines, HACCP accredited, with 1.2 million litres of temperature-controlled storage. Everything is first cold press only.
In 2025 the Australian International Olive Awards named the estate's Blood Orange Agrumato best flavoured oil of show in the boutique volume division, on 91.5 out of 100, and the same oil took best in show for flavoured oil at the Royal Adelaide Olive Awards. It is made by the agrumato method, whole blood oranges crushed with the olives on the first press. Robust and Reserve each took Gold at both competitions that year, and Classic a Gold at Royal Adelaide with a Silver from the Australian awards.
