Olive Auction built this page from public records so buyers can find the estate. Its own people can claim it at no cost — complete the story, list lots, answer buyers.
After a claim, we confirm by emailEverything here comes from public sources — award lists, certification registers, the territory inventories. The rest of the story — the family, the grove, the real age of the trees, this year's lab sheet — only the mill can tell, and it is the part buyers bid on.
Mount Zero began in 1993, when the Seymour family bought part of Jacob Friedman's original plantation at the base of Mount Zero, in Victoria's Grampians. In 2010 Jane, Neil and Richard Seymour were inducted as Melbourne Food and Wine Legends, a title the festival has given since 1993 for work in Victorian food production. In July 2022, after three decades of olive farming, Jane and Neil stepped away from the farm and another family took over the grove; the business now works with a small group of growers across Victoria and South Australia.
The Frantoio extra virgin olive oil comes from John and Marjan Symington's groves in the Goulburn Valley and West Wimmera, suppliers since 2014, and the May 2025 pressing was published at 229 ppm total biophenols and 0.36% free fatty acid. That oil took a Gold at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, judged from more than 1,200 entries out of 28 countries. Table olives, the Kalamata among them, come from the Kyriacou family's certified organic grove on the Adelaide Plains, a partnership running since 2001, and a wide range of the products carry organic or biodynamic certification from the Demeter Biodynamic Research Institute.
A second harvest grew out of the same country. Since 2009 Mount Zero has hand-harvested pink salt from Loch Iel, about 50 kilometres from the original grove, working two weeks a year alongside the Barengi Gadjin Land Council, the lake's traditional owners. The first season yielded around 20 tonnes.
