Al'Ard bottles in Nablus, and the family trade behind it starts earlier than the oil. In 1963 Haj Subhi Anabtawi and his brother Haj Walid opened a corner store in downtown Nablus called Palestine Grocery, the seed of the Anabtawi Group. An account published on the EU-funded EU Medbridge platform dates the turn to olives to 2000: Subhi Anabtawi, the company's business development manager and third generation in the business, describes the group's chief executive being asked in a press interview what he had contributed to the Palestinian economy, and deciding to move the firm out of trading tobacco and vegetable oils and into olive oil. Al'Ard for Palestinian Agricultural Products came out of that, founded by Ziad Anabtawi to work alongside farmers, drawing fruit from the Jenin and Deir Istiya areas of the West Bank and the villages of Sarra and Tell.
Certification followed. From 2017 the company worked through an EU project implemented by PalTrade to convert its supply to organic, a licence the same account says took three years of supervision and follow-up. Al'Ard Palestinian Agri-products Ltd is certified organic by ETKO (Ekolojik Tarım Kontrol Org.), and the US arm, ALARD Products INC, holds Organic NOP certification through OEFFA; the group describes itself as a certified Fairtrade company, and its reach is given as more than 25 countries. Its Rumi bottling, made with Palestinian farming cooperatives, is listed at 0.5 per cent acidity, and the organic extra virgin olive oil sits among the products the company lists as 2025 Great Taste award winners.
