Aires de Jaén dates itself to 1965 and puts four generations of olive growers behind the label. General management is held by Matías and Rosa López Sanchez-Polaina. The groves are at Finca Badenes, on the Guadalquivir in the province of Jaén, an estate whose signposted history takes in Mengíbar — where the producer records that Isabella the Catholic's cortège sheltered from a storm after crossing the river — and a landing stage on the property used by French troops after the Battle of Bailén.
Finca Badenes carries frantoio, brought from Tuscany, and empeltre alongside arbequina and picual, and the early-harvest range is built on that mix: a Cosecha Temprana coupage of arbequina, frantoio and picual, a picual monovarietal, and a Primer Día de Cosecha blend of empeltre, frantoio and arbequina. The mill was modernised with European Union rural development funding, and the company publishes a throughput of three million kilos of olives milled and nine million litres bottled a year.
Certification is layered: the IGP Aceite de Jaén, whose specification requires the fruit to be grown and milled within the province, picked before 31 December and pressed within 36 hours of arrival; IFS Food; organic certification through the CAAE; Halal through the Instituto Halal; and the Diputación Provincial de Jaén's Degusta Jaén mark. Its own awards record lists a Gold at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition in 2022, a Gold at OliveJapan in 2023, an Olive Oil Award at Zurich in 2023, and golds at the China International Olive Oil Competition in each year from 2020 to 2023.
